Deputy Project Coordinator – St Ives Foodbank

 

We are looking for a Deputy Project Coordinator to train up to cover for when the Project Coordinator is on leave, and eventually take on the role when the current Project Coordinator retires in a few years. The candidate will need to be able to manage volunteers, be well organized, numerate, computer literate, committed and enthusiastic. The job description lists many of the duties the current Project Coordinator undertakes who has been doing the role as a volunteer for nearly 15 years.

 

Any candidate will need to be a car owner and willing to collect food donations and go shopping on behalf of the Foodbank. 

 

The position will be initially probationary for six months in a volunteer capacity.

 

Whilst the post is currently voluntary if we can secure long term funding to pay a salary this will be considered by the trustees.

Job Description

 

To Assist the Project Coordinator in day to day running of Foodbank including:-

 

Assisting in receiving requests for food, producing delivery and collection lists

Organizing volunteer delivery drivers

Checking and organizing cleaning of Foodbank areas

Ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations

Ensuring stocks of food are rotated and within date

Recording fridge and freezer temperatures

Ensuring items placed in freezers are labelled on date of freezing

Stock taking to produce shopping lists

Organizing and/or Collecting donated food items from stores and donors

Assisting and Supervising the assembly of food parcels

Checking and organizing cleaning of Foodbank areas

Deputizing for Project Coordinator in shopping, maintenance of records of spends etc

Assisting in cooking and service of community meals and keeping cooked Temp records

Organising and participating in fund raising and food donation events

 

 

Skills Requirements

 

Good Communication Skills

Numeracy Skills

Computer skills using Word, Excel, Outlook

Food Hygiene Certificate will be required (can be organized on appointment)

Flexibility with hours 

Car owner with clean driving licence

 

 

Role initially voluntary for 6 months as probation period. Any fuel expenses incurred in fulfilling Foodbank duties will be covered on a mileage rate.

 

Longer term the successful applicant may replace the current Project Coordinator.

 

Core Hours

 

Monday           3-6pm

Wednesday     1-4pm

Thursday         9–2pm
